The Proposal

This newest release is a departure from what I've been doing the past few years. I call it my vacuum cleaner song because of how it was created. What started as a 'rip your heart out' country song turned into a promise in "The Proposal" after my son finally asked his lady of 5 years to be his wife. I just had to write them a song, and this fit like a glove...Sorta....OK..maybe I embellished it just a bit.
Like a good wine, the project had to mellow over time as I pondered how to approach it.
I'm an old fashioned woman and I don't believe ladies should ask a man to marry them, so I wanted to have a man sing it.
That turned into a difficult search because of the key it is written in. However, the last man I asked told me he felt that I was supposed to sing it.
I sighed....relented.... and reworked the lyrics to sing if from a 3rd person angle. Oh, and my grammar remains...countrified...it ain't correct.

to read out loud as if she was standing there
The words he'll say sounded better
when eloquently spoken from that page
He needs to let her know

And you know she'll say yes to ya
Without your love it's incomplete
She needs to let him know

It's 3 am she's not slept a wink
as she's lying here thinking how she overthinks it all
Sometimes it gets the best of her
as she waits for him to say those words...out loud
Will you marry me?
